Special Education Teacher - Chester, Vermont

This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work with either preschool or elementary students, supporting their growth and success through specialized instruction and care.

Two exciting opportunities are available:

• Preschool Special Education Teacher: Requires a valid Vermont Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE) license.
• Elementary Special Education Teacher: Requires current Vermont licensure in Special Education for grades K–6 or K–8.

Qualifications and Experience Sought:

• Valid and active Vermont teaching license as specified for the desired role
• Experience or strong interest in supporting students with diverse learning needs in either preschool or elementary environments
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities
• Skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Enthusiasm for collaborating with families, related service providers, and general education staff
• Ability to foster an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Adapt instruction and materials to meet individual student goals and IEP requirements
• Assess student abilities, document progress, and provide regular updates to multidisciplinary teams
• Support positive behavior, social-emotional skills, and readiness for future learning
• Guide and monitor classroom assistants or paraprofessionals as needed
• Maintain open and effective communication with families regarding successful strategies and student growth
