Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Special Education teaching license valid for grades K-2 or eligibility to obtain it
• Experience working with children with multiple handicaps, preferably in a self-contained setting
• Familiarity with teaching strategies for nonverbal students, including alternative and augmentative communication methods
• Ability to design and adjust individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, patient approach
• Effective communication skills to work proactively with paraprofessionals, related service staff, and parents
