Make a real impact in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher supporting resource inclusion classes in the Centreville/Chestertown, MD region. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 17, 2026 through June 18, 2027, working closely with a passionate team of educators.
Responsibilities include co-teaching in an inclusion setting, collaborating with general education teachers, and designing individualized instruction for students with IEPs. You’ll assess student needs, develop and implement plans, and oversee case management for your caseload. The school integrates evidence-based interventions, including Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, and Orton-Gillingham, tailored according to student requirements. IEP meeting days typically fall on Tuesdays and may shift as needed. Expect a Monday through Friday schedule, with variable start/end times between 7:25 am and 2:30 pm depending on campus, totaling 32 hours per week within a 7-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch).
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching Certification (required)
- Demonstrated experience with high school students in a co-teaching or inclusion setting
- Familiarity with Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, or Orton-Gillingham interventions preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and case management
- Collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills
