Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) in Illinois
- Expertise teaching cross-categorical special education students
- Experience designing and adapting social studies and science curriculum for diverse learning needs
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers
- Proven ability to manage IEP processes, including assessment, goal-setting, and progress documentation
- Flexibility, patience, and a commitment to meeting individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction in social studies and science to students with varied disabilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), tracking student progress and goals
- Modify and differentiate curriculum and assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Employ positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive care
- Maintain frequent, proactive communication with families regarding student progress
