Make a meaningful impact this school year in a full-time contract role supporting middle school students in an Intensive Communications Program. This position offers the opportunity to foster growth and development among a small group of learners in a highly structured and supportive classroom setting. You'll be teaching a class of nine students, primarily diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities, within a program that emphasizes functional and life skills alongside the Unique Learning curriculum.
Your classroom support includes two paraprofessionals and access to resources that help reinforce adaptive living concepts, such as a mini-kitchen and laundry facilities. Frequent community-integrated field trips further enrich this dynamic learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction using Unique Learning and integrated functional skills activities.
- Develop individualized curricula focused on life skills and academic growth.
- Supervise and collaborate with two paraprofessionals.
- Support students through activities in both the classroom and community settings.
- Complete thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current LBS1 and PEL licensure (please attach a screenshot of your license as an added blank page to your resume).
- Previous experience working with students with Autism and/or within functional skills programs highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of middle school learning needs and adaptive curriculum implementation.
- Willingness to attend an onsite interview.
- Availability for a full-time commitment from August 14 to November 1, with potential for extension depending on needs.
