Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement effective lesson plans to meet grade-level and individualized IEP goals
• Utilize structured teaching supports, visual aids, sensory integration tools, and communication strategies
• Implement social-emotional and behavioral interventions tailored to the needs of each student
• Collaborate closely with related service professionals to enhance student outcomes throughout the day
• Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth
• Provide guidance and support to program aides and 1:1 staff in the classroom
• Maintain clear and consistent documentation regarding student progress and program effectiveness

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working in cross-categorical classrooms or with students with autism preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Knowledge of adaptive teaching methods and strategies for differentiated instruction
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
