Special Ed Teacher - Chicago, Illinois

In this role, you will work with 5th-grade students in a cross-categorical instructional program, providing both academic and social-emotional support tailored to individual needs. Your passion for special education and individualized teaching strategies will shine as you guide students toward their IEP goals and help them grow in all facets of their development.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience designing instruction for students with a variety of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Skills in structured teaching, behavioral interventions, and visual/communication supports
• Strong collaboration with aides, 1:1 support staff, and related service providers

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver grade-level-aligned lessons and individualized instruction that address IEP goals
• Implement specialized instructional supports—visual schedules, behavioral and social interventions, communication tools, and sensory strategies
• Foster an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers to ensure comprehensive student support
• Monitor and document academic, behavioral, and functional progress
• Maintain regular communication with families and team members
