Step into a rewarding contract role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher near Chicago, IL! This full-time position begins August 17th and continues through May 28th, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of approximately 15 students in a dynamic classroom environment. The setting focuses on resource and co-taught models, allowing you to collaborate with fellow educators and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Please note, teaching assistants or paraprofessionals may not be present in the classroom.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement or equivalent)
  • Strong background in working with middle school students, particularly those with varied learning abilities
  • Proven experience with resource or co-taught instructional models
  • Ability to create and deliver differentiated lesson plans, adapting materials for individual student needs
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and parents
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom climate

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and individualized support to students in a resource or co-taught environment
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching techniques for students with special needs
  • Collect data and report on student progress, utilizing assessments to inform instruction
  • Partner with colleagues to align instructional goals and strategies
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student achievements and areas of growth
