Embark on a fulfilling contract assignment as a Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL, with a focus on supporting young learners in K-4th grades. This short-term opportunity begins in October 2026 and extends through December 2026 or January 2027, offering you the ability to make an immediate difference in the Englewood or East Chatham area.

Your weekdays will be structured from 8:00am to 3:00pm, allowing for work-life balance, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch daily. The caseload consists of 6 children, requiring a skillful balance of push-in and self-contained teaching environments.

Ideal experience and qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois State Educator License with LBS1 Endorsement
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent special education teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Comfortable collaborating with related service providers and school personnel
  • Genuine passion for fostering inclusive and supportive classroom environments

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and tracking progress on student IEPs
  • Delivering instruction both within the classroom and through push-in support
  • Effectively communicating with families, administration, and related service staff
  • Contributing to a positive, team-oriented school culture
