Special Education Teacher | Chicago, Illinois

Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for Early Education, Elementary, and Middle School grades (K-8). This full-time, contract opportunity runs from ASAP through May 28, 2027, offering a chance to make a difference in a diverse and vibrant school community near Chicago, IL. You’ll provide a mix of resource and instructional (self-contained) support, working 32.5 hours each week in collaboration with dedicated educators and support staff.

What We’re Looking For:

• Current Illinois Special Education Teacher Certification
• Active Professional Educator License (PEL)
• Experience teaching or supporting students in K-8th grade (resource and/or self-contained preferred)
• Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs
• Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
• Effective communication and collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction to students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in resource and self-contained classroom settings
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to align with IEP goals and state standards
• Track student progress, update documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
• Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
