Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Special Education Teacher license or eligibility to obtain one in Illinois
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
• Experience working with students who have varied disabilities and learning needs
• Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and tracking progress
• Familiarity with best practices in adapted curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and update individualized education plans (IEPs) for students receiving special education services
• Deliver personalized instruction tailored to student goals, adapting teaching methods and materials as needed
• Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote academic and social success
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as required
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
