Grades 9 - 12 K-5 Special Education Teacher - Chicago, Illinois

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Illinois or eligible for reciprocity)
• Experience teaching students with a variety of learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, or developmental needs
• Deep understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptable teaching methods to suit inclusion, resource, and self-contained classroom settings
• Collaborative mindset for coordinating with general education staff and support professionals

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop individualized learning plans and deliver instruction tailored to students’ unique needs
• Assess, monitor, and document student progress towards IEP goals
• Modify curriculum and adapt instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners
• Employ a range of behavioral management techniques to foster a safe and supportive classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and team members regarding student development
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff professional development, and school events as needed
