As a Special Education Teacher working alongside a general education counterpart using a co-teaching (push-in) model, you’ll play a pivotal role in facilitating individual growth for students with IEPs in reading and math while ensuring full inclusion in the academic community.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid LBS1 Special Education certification for Illinois
- Proven experience teaching middle school students with IEPs, especially in reading and/or math
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff in a co-taught classroom
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive environment for all learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction in both ELA and Math for a total caseload of 10 students
- Implement IEP goals and monitor progress for reading and math, adapting strategies as needed
- Work closely each day with a general education teacher to provide push-in support during Homeroom, ELA, and Math
- Maintain detailed documentation and participate in IEP meetings as required
- Engage students in inclusive academic, social, and extracurricular activities
- Utilize scheduled prep/plan time to design effective instructional supports
Role Details:
- Contract runs from ASAP to end of the year
- Work a consistent weekly schedule: 32.75 hours, with each school day from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM
- Adequate prep/plan periods and a 30-minute lunch break are built into your day
- Attend to a manageable caseload, supporting both academic and social success
