Make an impact working with young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an inclusive elementary environment! This contract opportunity offers a rewarding chance to support students at an early and crucial stage in their growth and development. The position takes place in a collaborative setting designed for PreK-2nd grade students, with most students in 1st and 2nd grades, and a small, manageable caseload of approximately 8–10 students.
In this role, you’ll facilitate engaging learning experiences and individualized support for children with autism, developmental delays, communication challenges, and learning disabilities. You’ll be partnered with general education staff, helping to nurture a positive and supportive environment for students with diverse needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching License with P-12 SPED Endorsement
- Current Dyslexia Endorsement required
- Experience with early childhood or elementary special education
- Skilled in differentiation, data-driven instruction, and classroom management
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary school teams and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction within an inclusion setting to elementary students with varying needs
- Monitor, support, and document progress toward student IEP goals
- Provide supervision for a student’s toileting goal (no diapering/changing necessary)
- Develop lesson plans and adapt curriculum to meet learners’ unique needs
- Use evidence-based strategies to support communication, self-regulation, and social development
- Maintain strong, ongoing communication with school staff and families
