Step into an inspiring school community and help shape the educational journeys of middle school learners as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. Two dedicated professionals are sought to support students in co-taught/inclusion classrooms, collaborating with general educators and contributing to a positive, growth-oriented environment.

Key Highlights:

  • Two contract positions available, starting August 5th and running through May 21st, 2027, with essential SPED training on July 29th and pre-planning from July 31st to August 4th.
  • Full-time schedules: 37.5–40 hours per week, from 7:45am to 3:45pm.
  • Position 1: Teach 6th grade math and science in a co-teaching, inclusion classroom. Caseload of about 10-12 students with diverse abilities and mild behaviors; no significant toileting/diapering responsibilities.
  • Position 2: Co-teach English Language Arts and Science for 7th and 8th graders. Also supports a similar caseload and eligibility profiles as above.
  • Students supported may have eligibilities including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, EBD, and some have behavior plans.
  • Both placements offer opportunities to collaborate closely with other educators and participate actively in IEP development and implementation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current and active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement required.
  • Experience in co-taught settings and passion for inclusive education.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with common middle school behavioral supports.
