Step into an impactful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a collaborative, co-teaching environment. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference for middle school learners ranging from 6th to 8th grade, providing guidance and instruction primarily in math, science, and ELA within co-taught/inclusion classrooms. The assignment runs from now through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current and active GaPSC Special Education Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement
  • Experience working with special education populations, including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD
  • Understanding of inclusion and co-teaching models, ideally with middle school students
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Ability to manage a dynamic caseload and adapt to fluctuating student enrollments
  • Compassionate, proactive approach to supporting students with a range of learning needs and some with behavior plans
  • Skill in fostering a supportive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach math and science for 6th grade and ELA and science for 7th/8th grades, supporting student learning side by side with general educators
  • Provide IEP services for a caseload of approximately 10–12 students per grade
  • Monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies and accommodations as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute professional insight for student success
  • Implement and follow behavior plans where appropriate; significant behaviors requiring intensive intervention are not managed in this setting
  • Engage with families to support their children’s educational journey in a new middle school environment
