Special Education Teacher | Chicopee, Massachusetts

Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as an Elementary Special Education Teacher in a substantially separate classroom focused on therapeutic needs. This contract opportunity spans the 2025-2026 school year, running from August 25th, 2025 through June 19th, 2026. The position features a consistent weekday schedule from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, providing stability and balance.

In this K-4 classroom environment, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping students’ academic and social growth, working with a dedicated team to cultivate a nurturing, individualized educational experience.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience teaching or supporting elementary-aged children, especially those with moderate to intensive needs
• Expertise in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management abilities and a compassionate, adaptable approach
• Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and strategies beneficial for students with social-emotional or behavioral challenges
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, support staff, and administration

Responsibilities & Expectations:

• Design and deliver personalized lesson plans for K-4 students in a substantially separate setting
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment focused on therapeutic development
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student progress and needs
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress monitoring as outlined by IEPs
• Collaborate with specialists, paraprofessionals, and other educators to provide holistic support
• Adapt instructional strategies to address diverse learning styles and behavioral needs
