Special Education Teacher - Cicero, IL

This contract opportunity focuses on cross-categorical instructional programming for students in grades 1-2, many of whom are on the autism spectrum. You'll have the chance to design and implement engaging lessons tailored to both grade-level standards and individualized IEP goals at a welcoming elementary school near Cicero, IL.

The role offers incredible support—a dedicated classroom program aide is provided, with extra 1:1 staff in place as dictated by each student’s IEP. You’ll collaborate closely with related service providers, ensuring that every learner receives comprehensive behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and sensory supports.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching certification (Illinois)
• Understanding of cross-categorical and autism-specific instructional approaches
• Familiarity with developing and implementing IEP goals
• Strong collaborative skills with a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to design and utilize structured teaching and visual supports
• Experience supporting behavioral and social-emotional growth in young learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver academic instruction aligned with both grade-level standards and individual IEP objectives
• Integrate structured teaching, sensory, communication, and behavioral interventions
• Utilize data and observations to inform and adapt teaching practices
• Collaborate daily with related service providers and support staff
• Maintain thorough documentation for IEP compliance and progress monitoring
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment
