Special Education Teacher - Cicero, Illinois

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification and appropriate state licensure
• Experience working with young adults, especially ages 18-22
• In-depth understanding of functional curriculum and vocational program development
• Strong background in developing transition plans and teaching daily living skills
• Ability to tailor instructional approaches for varying learning needs
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and supportive instruction focused on vocational skills, functional academics, and independent living skills
• Implement transition plans to assist students in reaching individualized post-secondary goals
• Adapt curriculum and assess progress for students with diverse learning profiles
• Collaborate with families, related services staff, and community partners to maximize student growth
• Document student progress and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
• Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that fosters student achievement
