Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification and appropriate state licensure
- Experience working with young adults, especially ages 18-22
- In-depth understanding of functional curriculum and vocational program development
- Strong background in developing transition plans and teaching daily living skills
- Ability to tailor instructional approaches for varying learning needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and supportive instruction focused on vocational skills, functional academics, and independent living skills
- Implement transition plans to assist students in reaching individualized post-secondary goals
- Adapt curriculum and assess progress for students with diverse learning profiles
- Collaborate with families, related services staff, and community partners to maximize student growth
- Document student progress and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that fosters student achievement
