Step into a dynamic educational setting supporting 7th-grade students through a co-teaching, inclusion-based model. This contract position offers the chance to make a significant impact by delivering specialized instruction while collaborating closely with general education staff. The assignment runs from ASAP to the end of the school year, with a weekly commitment of 32.75 hours—each day includes a dedicated lunch break and prep/planning period.
As a vital part of the team, you'll work with a caseload of 10 students (5 in ELA, 5 in Math) who are primarily mainstreamed, engaging alongside their peers for academics, specials, lunch, and recess. Together with the general education teacher, you'll utilize a push-in model to provide support during Homeroom, ELA, and Math, helping students with IEP goals in reading and math reach their highest potential.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid and active Special Education teacher certification (LBS1).
- Previous experience working with middle school students, particularly in a co-taught or inclusion setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation for reading and math objectives.
- Excellent collaboration skills to partner with general education staff and related service providers.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support in ELA and Math for students with IEPs.
- Write, implement, and monitor individualized education plans.
- Co-plan and co-teach lessons utilizing best practices in inclusive education.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure student growth and success.
- Maintain punctuality, with an arrival time of 8:00 a.m. and departure at 3:15 p.m., following the daily bell schedule.
