Job Type Contract

Step into a dynamic teaching environment designed to empower both educators and students in the world of Special Education. This contract role focuses on supporting 9th- and 11th-grade students in Algebra I and Algebra II, utilizing a blend of self-contained and co-taught classrooms to maximize personalized learning.

Your instructional week will include five sections—three self-contained groups (with class sizes of 10 to 15 students) and two co-taught classes (about 26 students each), providing push-in support specifically for diverse learners in general education settings. Course material for self-contained and co-taught sections remains tightly aligned, streamlining your planning and ensuring curriculum consistency. Collaborate closely with general education colleagues to differentiate instruction, accommodate students with IEPs, and ensure an inclusive learning experience across every section.

As a part of your role, you will hold primary responsibility for developing and writing IEPs for an assigned caseload of approximately 15 students. The notable benefit: all operational case management—including compliance, meeting coordination, and related administrative duties—is overseen by a dedicated case manager, giving you more focused time for instruction, student progress monitoring, and collaboration.

  • Current Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) credential
  • Recent (minimum 2 years) experience teaching in a K-12 special education setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing and implementing IEPs

Responsibilities:
