An opportunity is available for an onsite Special Education Teacher working with high school students in a supportive and collaborative environment. This contract position begins at the end of August 2026 and continues through the first week of June 2027. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow educators to support 9th–12th grade students, particularly those with emotional, behavioral, or autism spectrum disabilities, within a vibrant community school setting.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license in EBD, ASD, or ABS; applicants interested in out-of-field licensure are encouraged to apply, as support is available.
- Experience working with at-risk youth in secondary grade levels (9–12).
- Demonstrated strength in behavior support and classroom management.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to develop and implement effective Individualized Education Plans.
- Passion for helping each learner reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and implement IEPs for students with diverse special needs.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Work proactively with students exhibiting behavioral challenges, supporting their educational and social development.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and staff for seamless inclusion and accommodations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring.
- Engage students and families as partners in the learning process.
- Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development throughout the contract term.
This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, following a 7:15am–3:15pm schedule with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, closely aligned with student hours.
