This contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction and support within a positive, resource-rich setting, working on a full-time basis for one academic year. As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll be instrumental in impacting the lives of students in either a Multiple Disabilities (MD) or Emotional Disabilities (ED) classroom, each with a manageable caseload and a strong support system.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching license
- Previous experience with students in MD, autism, non-verbal, physical impairment, and/or emotional disabilities settings
- Knowledge and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Crisis intervention skills and a trauma-informed mindset
- Exceptional communication and collaboration capabilities with students, staff, and families
- Adaptability and creativity in instructional approaches
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning atmosphere
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on IEP goals
- Implement and document behavioral/social-emotional strategies
- Modify curriculum to accommodate varied learning abilities
- Collaborate with colleagues and specialists to support student success
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress with families
- Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behavior interventions
- Participate in professional development as needed to grow skills
This role is based at one location, with classrooms supporting either 9–12 students with multiple disabilities or 10–15 students with emotional disabilities. You’ll spend your school year building meaningful relationships and making a real difference in students’ growth.
