The classroom blends experienced education with social-emotional programming, offering a supportive and collaborative team structure.
You’ll be part of a carefully coordinated setting, collaborating closely with another educational professional focused on social-emotional growth. In addition, paraprofessionals float in and out, providing flexible, individualized support as dictated by student IEPs, including 1:1 attention where needed.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Special Education Teacher certification
- Previous experience with students who have intensive behavioral and mental health needs
- Comfort working in a blended middle and high school class
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Skillful in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Paraeducators and allied staff
- Commitment to full-time on-site schedule (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction in a self-contained setting
- Collaborate daily with a team member focused on social-emotional learning and skill-building
- Adjust teaching strategies to support both academic and behavioral growth
- Engage with paraprofessionals to maximize support based on student IEP requirements
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress and needs
- Create an inclusive, compassionate environment that encourages each student's strengths
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
