This contract opportunity near Clifton Park, NY, runs from July 2026 through June 2027, and offers an impactful role for Special Education Teachers ready to make a difference. With 78 students across 10 classrooms, all set in self-contained 8:1:3 classroom environments, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the daily experience of students with level 3 autism, significant cognitive disabilities, and severe behavioral challenges. Most students use alternative communication methods and are non-verbal, presenting a rewarding challenge for teachers passionate about meaningful connections.
Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:45am–3:15pm, with the flexibility to approve up to 40 hours per week for those who arrive early or stay late for paperwork, IEPs, or planning. Openings are available at both the middle and high school levels.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Current NY State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities), or actively pursuing this.
- Recent graduates with a Master’s degree, or those with an out-of-state license seeking transfer, are encouraged—support is available for licensing.
- Strongly preferred experience with level 3 autism, severe behaviors, and/or students with alternative communication or medical needs.
- Proficiency with alternative assessments and modifying curriculum is highly valued.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in self-contained classrooms tailored to individual student needs.
- Develop and implement IEPs, manage classroom routines, and foster a safe, equitable learning environment.
- Collaborate with support staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Employ creative strategies to ensure engagement and progress for all students.
Compensation is competitive, ranging from $35 to $50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
