Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Active Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students with cognitive, developmental, or educational disabilities, ideally in middle school, high school, or elementary settings
- Familiarity with differentiating instruction based on IEPs, academic levels, and communication modalities (verbal, AAC devices)
- Capacity to collaborate with paraprofessionals, 1:1 staff, or personal care assistants
- Ability to design and implement engaging academic and life skills programs across grade levels
Position Highlights:
- Secondary Life Skills: Teach a small group of 9th–11th graders, primarily with cognitive support needs, in a classroom assisted by a paraprofessional and 1:1 aides.
- Autism Support (Secondary): Lead academic blocks for higher-functioning learners, delivering instruction for both middle and high school ELA/Math, supported by two paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides.
- Elementary Autism Support: Guide up to 8 students (mostly grades 2-3), with mixed abilities and AAC or verbal communication, alongside Personal Care Assistants (1:2 ratio), providing structured routines and targeted supports.
- Workday structure: Full school-day hours, dedicated prep periods, and teacher lunchtime that does not require student supervision.
