Opportunities are available for experienced special education teachers to support diverse student populations in a K-12 school setting in Colchester, CT. These contract roles are designed to provide specialized educational support within a therapeutic learning environment, addressing the unique needs of students across multiple grade levels.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ behavioral and academic needs.
- Deliver effective instruction and accommodations for students in grades 2-12, including those in behavior programs and intensive learning settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and other educators, to promote positive student outcomes.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in compliance with special education guidelines.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification in special education.
- Experience working with students in behavior programs and resource classrooms.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for varying academic and behavioral needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to student growth and individualized learning approaches.
Available Positions:
- Two teachers for a Behavior Program serving grades 5-8 (4 students) and grades 9-12 (7 students).
- One teacher for resource support in grades 2-4 (15 students).
- One teacher for an Academic Intensive Learning Program for grades 2-4 (4 students).
These contract positions are for the current school year (CSY). Interviews will be scheduled promptly to fill these openings.
