Special Education Teacher - Colchester, CT

Exciting new opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a self-contained classroom environment working with a neuro-diverse population. The school day runs from 7:35 am to 2:30 pm, offering a structured schedule that allows you to focus on meaningful instruction and student progress.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Prior experience teaching or supporting neuro-diverse high school students
• Solid understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Skill in adapting curriculum and classroom management for diverse learning needs
• Patience, creativity, and strong communication skills
• Passion for collaboration with families, related service providers, and school staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned to students’ needs and IEP goals
• Foster a respectful, safe, and orderly classroom environment
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student access to the full educational program
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records and reporting per school and district guidelines
• Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and challenges
• Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development activities
