Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as an Elementary Special Education Teacher in a contract position near scenic Colchester, Vermont. As the lead educator, you'll fill a leave of absence from October through December, utilizing your specialized knowledge to implement individualized education plans, support student growth, and ensure safety and consistency throughout the day.
Qualifications:
- Vermont Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility)
- Experience working with K-5 students, particularly those with autism and behavioral challenges
- Familiarity with self-contained classroom settings and student-centered approaches
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and adaptive instruction
- Ability to design, modify, and implement IEPs for diverse learners
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to fostering a positive classroom culture
Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of each student
- Oversee and coordinate with paraprofessionals, ensuring effective 1:1 support
- Collect data on student progress and communicate findings to relevant team members
- Utilize proactive behavioral strategies and interventions
