Special Education Teacher in Columbia City, IN

This full-time, onsite contract position runs from as soon as possible through the end of the school year, with the potential for summer or future renewal, as well as permanent hire options. The role is based at an elementary school and focuses on students in kindergarten through sixth grade who require mild or intensive interventions, with a particular emphasis on autism support.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher license with mild or intense intervention (K-6)
• Experience or background as an Autism Specialist or with Applied Skills programming
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with students, staff, and families
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Passion for fostering growth, independence, and inclusion for students with special needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to elementary students with varied learning needs, focusing on ASD and applied skills
• Develop and modify lesson plans tailored to each student’s IEP goals
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff
• Maintain documentation and progress monitoring in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Communicate regularly with families to ensure consistent support for each student’s development
• Contribute positively to an inclusive school culture
