Certified Grades 6 - 8 Special Education Teacher | Columbia Cross Roads, Pennsylvania

Step into a dynamic educational setting as a Special Education teacher supporting middle school students with emotional support needs. This contract position is crafted for dedicated educators who are passionate about fostering growth and resilience in students, particularly in a structured classroom serving grades 7 and 8. You’ll be working with a caseload of 13 students to start, with the possibility of growing to as many as 20.

Qualifications:

• Holds a valid Pennsylvania Special Education teaching license (Instructional I or II), or will secure certification before the start date; emergency or out-of-state certifications cannot be accepted
• Prior experience in an emotional support classroom or with students requiring a high level of structure is preferred
• Demonstrates consistency, reliability, and flexibility in addressing student needs
• Skilled in fostering a positive, predictable classroom environment using evidence-based practices and positive reinforcement
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) addressing the emotional and academic needs of each student
• Establish clear, predictable routines that help students feel secure and ready to learn
• Employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning styles and behavioral needs
• Maintain detailed records and regularly document progress
• Collaborate closely with other educators, support staff, and parents to create and adapt strategies for student success
• Continuously monitor and adjust classroom management techniques, utilizing positive reinforcement effectively
