Make a difference in the lives of students by taking on a dynamic contract opportunity supporting special education learners in a school near Columbus, GA. Two rewarding roles are available: a Middle School Special Education Teacher (grades 6-8) in a self-contained classroom for students with mild to moderate needs, and a potential Elementary Special Education Inclusion Teacher (grades K-2) working with a caseload of 13 students. You’ll provide tailored instruction, collaborate with colleagues, and help students achieve their fullest potential in a supportive, focused environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Georgia teaching certificate with Special Education Adapted Curriculum endorsement
  • Experience working in special education, preferably within middle school or elementary settings
  • Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
  • Strong skills in differentiation, classroom management, and individualized instruction
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate with families
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom community

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans that support IEP goals for each student
  • Adapt general education curriculum as needed to meet student learning levels and styles
  • Track academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress, maintaining thorough documentation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other support staff
  • Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured classroom environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to support student success
  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school activities as required
