Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary-level Structured Learning Classroom. This contract position centers on empowering students—primarily those with Autism—in a Reversed Inclusion setting, allowing for specialized instruction while promoting meaningful participation in general education. Collaborate closely with a lead teacher, dedicated paraprofessionals, and a supportive staff as you help students achieve their academic and developmental goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and small group instruction, primarily serving 1st, 2nd, and 4th graders with Autism
- Implementing sensory breaks and targeted interventions for behavior and academic challenges
- Using creative and engaging approaches to adapt the general education curriculum
- Coordinating with a general education teacher, paraprofessionals (including 1:1 support for a student), and related service providers
- Tracking student progress, documenting IEP goals, and maintaining open communication with families
- Fostering a welcoming classroom that celebrates student strengths and encourages inclusion
- Managing a caseload of 8 students, ensuring each child receives personalized attention
- Supporting students’ transitions between the structured learning classroom and core academic settings
- Participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with parents and school staff
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification in Special Education (state requirements apply)
- Experience teaching students with Autism or in SLC environments preferred
- Strong collaborative skills to work in team teaching and cross-functional settings
- Passion for differentiation and inclusive practices
- Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability
