Special Education Teacher - Cooperstown, New York

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This role offers the unique opportunity to work within a dynamic educational environment, focusing on English Language Arts for grades 7-12, with a primary caseload in 7th and 9th grades. The assignment begins September 1, 2026 (with students arriving September 8), and runs through June 25, 2027.

The schedule follows a standard school day, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 AM to 3 PM, totaling approximately 34 hours per week. You'll manage a caseload of 15 students, with additional students in a resource room setting. The position blends resource teaching and co-teaching, supporting individual learning needs and promoting success across the curriculum.

Ideal candidates will have experience with IEP development and implementation and can collaborate with related services professionals. Familiarity with ClearTrack for IEP and progress monitoring, as well as the Woodcock-Johnson (Riverside Insights) assessment, will help you excel in this environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Current New York State Educator License with a Special Education Endorsement
• Strong ability to write and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with special education evaluation tools and data systems, especially ClearTrack and Woodcock-Johnson assessments
• At least two years of recent teaching experience in a comparable setting preferred

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver specialized instruction within English Language Arts curriculum for grades 7-12
• Manage a moderate caseload and provide resource room support as needed
• Complete IEP documentation, evaluations, and progress monitoring
• Foster an inclusive, engaging classroom environment
