Special Education Teacher in Corning, NY

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active New York State Special Education Teaching license, with all required endorsements and certifications
• Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably working with high school students or in Emotional Disabilities (ED) classrooms
• Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills
• Demonstrated ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and deliver differentiated instruction
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working with staff, administration, and families
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to 11th and 12th grade students in an ED classroom setting
• Develop, implement, and adjust IEPs to address the unique needs of each student
• Assess student progress, adapting strategies as needed to enhance student achievement
• Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, school psychologists, counselors, and other support personnel
• Maintain accurate records, manage classroom routines, and engage positively with parents and guardians
• Contribute to the overall positive culture and safety of the school community
