Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active New York State Special Education Teaching license, with all required endorsements and certifications
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably working with high school students or in Emotional Disabilities (ED) classrooms
- Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and deliver differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working with staff, administration, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to 11th and 12th grade students in an ED classroom setting
- Develop, implement, and adjust IEPs to address the unique needs of each student
- Assess student progress, adapting strategies as needed to enhance student achievement
- Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, school psychologists, counselors, and other support personnel
- Maintain accurate records, manage classroom routines, and engage positively with parents and guardians
- Contribute to the overall positive culture and safety of the school community
