What you'll bring to the role:

• Valid New York State Teaching License with high school endorsement and certifications required for an ED (Emotional Disabilities) classroom setting
• Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar substitute teaching/teacher’s assistant role
• Confidence in supporting high school students, particularly in an ED classroom environment
• Strong communication abilities, patience, and the adaptability to connect with diverse learners
• Commitment to a full onsite schedule – up to 32.5 hours per week during the school term

Primary responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction and individualized support to 11th and 12th grade students in a high school special education classroom
• Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment while maintaining classroom structure
• Collaborate with colleagues, service providers, and administration to help implement students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Adapt lesson plans and strategies to support a variety of learning styles and behavioral needs
• Track student progress through observation, documentation, and formal reporting
