Special Education Teacher | Cottage Grove, Minnesota

A rewarding opportunity is available for a passionate Special Education Teacher specializing in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. This full-time, contract role runs from the end of February through June 4, 2027, and is based in a vibrant K-2 elementary setting. You’ll work with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 students, helping them achieve academic and social success in an inclusive, supportive environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Key Qualifications:

• Current, valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities credential
• Experience working with early elementary students (K-2) preferred
• Strong understanding of individualized education program (IEP) development and implementation
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learning needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom community

Position Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted instruction and support for students with developmental cognitive disabilities
• Develop, review, and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Monitor student progress and document outcomes
• Employ evidence-based teaching strategies to promote student engagement and growth
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas of need
• Participate actively in professional development and relevant school meetings
