Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and create lesson plans that align with each student’s IEP
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other staff to foster a successful inclusion model
• Assess and report student progress, making modifications to instruction as needed
• Maintain accurate records, including IEP documentation and reports for district/state compliance
• Communicate closely with families, ensuring they are informed and engaged in their child’s learning
• Manage classroom behavior by implementing evidence-based interventions
• Participate in professional development and contribute to the school’s special education initiatives

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Current Kansas Special Education teaching license (required)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
• Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs preferred
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies and materials to accommodate different learning styles
• Up-to-date knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices
