Special Education Teacher - Cottonwood Falls, Kansas

Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity as a Behavioral Specialist working across K-12 classrooms in an itinerant role. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional needs, while collaborating closely with school teams, families, and staff. The assignment spans the 2026–2027 school year (August 19, 2026 – May 20, 2027) and involves travel between several districts for a total of 35 hours per week.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Active Kansas State Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement
• Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Proven ability to deliver data-driven behavior interventions in school settings
• School-based behavior specialist, BCBA, or equivalent experience highly desirable
• Licensure in school psychology, social work, or counseling is a plus
• Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with school teams, parents, and stakeholders
• Capacity to provide effective behavior coaching, staff training, and crisis intervention support

Responsibilities:

• Conduct FBAs to assess student needs and develop effective BIPs
• Implement research-based interventions and monitor progress using collected data
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to foster student growth
• Offer ongoing coaching to school staff on behavior management strategies
• Support students in meeting behavioral and social-emotional goals
• Assist in crisis situations and help develop proactive intervention plans
