Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting student growth as a Special Education Teacher for a fifth-grade classroom near Coventry, RI. This full-time, contract role runs from now through the end of the school year, offering a balanced schedule Monday through Friday (7:45am - 2:45pm). You’ll work in a supportive educational environment, making a direct impact on students’ learning journeys.
In this position, you will:
- Provide one period of resource instruction and three to four periods of co-taught or push-in support each day.
- Manage a caseload of 9 students, while serving a total of 15-17 students in reading and/or writing.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Adapt materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators about student progress.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state policies.
Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island teaching license for Special Education.
- Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) certification.
- Willingness to obtain a National BCI background check.
- Experience working with upper elementary students, particularly in inclusive or resource settings, is highly valued.
- Strong organizational skills and a passion for helping every student succeed.
