A 5th grade Special Education Teacher position is currently available for a full-time contract role based in Coventry, RI. The role offers a dynamic teaching environment where you will provide specialized instruction and support to a diverse group of students, employing both resource and co-teaching methods.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering one period of resource instruction and three to four periods of co-taught or push-in support
- Managing a caseload of 9 students with direct instructional responsibilities for 15-17 students in reading and/or writing
- Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to support individualized learning goals
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Maintaining accurate records and participating in meetings regarding student performance and development
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Rhode Island teaching license and be certified to work in Rhode Island
- Willingness to obtain a National Background Criminal Investigation (BCI)
- Experience in special education, particularly working with elementary-level students, is preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Hours: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Position begins ASAP and continues through the end of the school year
