Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a middle school Life Skills classroom in Crandall, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is passionate about helping students with disabilities build academic, functional, communication, and independent-living skills.
This unique Life Skills classroom includes an in-classroom kitchen, providing students with hands-on opportunities to develop practical life skills in a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to middle school students in a Life Skills setting.
- Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs.
- Support academic, functional, social, communication, and independent-living goals.
- Utilize the classroom kitchen and other hands-on activities to teach practical life skills.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and campus leadership.
- Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress.
- Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide differentiated instruction based on individual student needs.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold both:
- Valid Texas Special Education (SPED) certification
- Valid Texas Core Subjects certification
Both certifications are required for consideration.
Experience working with students in a Life Skills, self-contained, or specialized special education classroom is highly valued.
