Special Education Teacher - Cranston, Rhode Island

Embark on a fulfilling contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary setting near Cranston, RI. Three onsite, full-time positions are available, working closely with students with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Classrooms are thoughtfully designed, with 8-12 students per class, ensuring an environment that supports meaningful connections and individualized learning.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (elementary level preferred)
• Experience working with students with Autism and developmental disabilities
• Knowledge of IEP creation, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster an inclusive, positive learning atmosphere
• Excellent communication and collaboration with colleagues, families, and support services
• Commitment to evidence-based instructional strategies

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to elementary students in a self-contained special education classroom
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet a variety of learning needs and styles
• Implement IEPs, track student progress, and participate in team meetings regarding student development
• Cultivate a safe, supportive environment that encourages academic, social, and emotional growth
• Collaborate with therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to advance student outcomes
• Participate in professional development activities as required
