This opportunity focuses on a self-contained elementary classroom serving students ages 9-10, most of whom are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Special Education teaching certification for the state
  • Experience in self-contained classrooms preferred
  • Familiarity with strategies and supports for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to create a structured, engaging, and supportive learning atmosphere
  • Collaborative approach to working with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ unique learning needs
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies for children with autism and related disabilities
  • Write and maintain accurate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and track student progress
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages skill development and independence
  • Collaborate with support staff, fellow educators, and families to maximize student outcomes
  • Manage classroom behavior with proactive, supportive techniques
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and communication with caregivers
