Make an impact by supporting students’ growth as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time, contract position close to Cranston, RI. This opportunity focuses on a self-contained elementary classroom serving students ages 9-10, most of whom are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for the state
- Experience in self-contained classrooms preferred
- Familiarity with strategies and supports for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create a structured, engaging, and supportive learning atmosphere
- Collaborative approach to working with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ unique learning needs
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies for children with autism and related disabilities
- Write and maintain accurate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and track student progress
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages skill development and independence
- Collaborate with support staff, fellow educators, and families to maximize student outcomes
- Manage classroom behavior with proactive, supportive techniques
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and communication with caregivers
