Desired Skills & Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification in Rhode Island
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Experience working with students with varied disabilities (mild to moderate and/or severe)
- Strong classroom management abilities and differentiated instruction expertise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Up-to-date on current best practices and IEP implementation
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on each student’s unique goals and requirements
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to parents and support teams
- Employ assessments to monitor academic, social, and behavioral progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff development programs
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment supporting student well-being
