Desired Skills & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification in Rhode Island
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
• Experience working with students with varied disabilities (mild to moderate and/or severe)
• Strong classroom management abilities and differentiated instruction expertise
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills collaboration with staff, students, and families
• Up-to-date on current best practices and IEP implementation

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on each student’s unique goals and requirements
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to parents and support teams
• Employ assessments to monitor academic, social, and behavioral progress
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff development programs
• Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment supporting student well-being
