Make a meaningful difference in the lives of high school students by supporting those with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and significant behavioral needs in a specialized classroom setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals, helping students build essential academic and social-emotional skills in an environment tailored to their unique challenges.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold an active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Secondary level).
  • Demonstrate certification in Rhode Island Structured Literacy or willingness to achieve proficiency within one year of hire in accordance with the Right to Read Act.
  • Experience working in self-contained or sub-separate education settings is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and building rapport with students and families.
  • Commitment to evidence-based instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior supports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and behavioral support to a high school caseload, primarily in a specialized classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and district guidelines.
  • Utilize structured literacy interventions and data-driven instructional strategies to foster student growth.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to promote student success.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor student progress, and document achievements and challenges.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages positive behavioral change.
