Empower young learners and make a meaningful difference as a contract Special Education Teacher for elementary students. This full-time opportunity is available for the 2026–2027 school year, with a start date as soon as possible and continuing through June 18, 2027. You’ll serve a vibrant elementary school population, supporting students in either a Resource/Inclusion capacity—assisting those with mild-to-moderate disabilities to thrive alongside their peers—or in a Self-Contained classroom environment, depending on current needs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the relevant grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
  • Compliance with the Right to Read Act: Certification in Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency, or ability to complete within one year of hire
  • Experience providing differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs) in elementary settings
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to partner with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction to students with varying learning needs using evidence-based methodologies
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and progress for all students on your caseload
  • Collaborate with general education staff and support personnel to encourage full participation in the learning community
  • Foster student independence, self-advocacy, and a positive academic experience
  • Maintain organized records, data, and meaningful communication with families
