Special Education Teacher - Crystal Lake, Illinois

Make a difference in early childhood education by supporting young learners in a dynamic and inclusive PreK blended classroom environment. This contract role is ideal for a Special Education Teacher passionate about fostering growth and independence in children ages 3-5. You’ll partner with a dedicated general education teacher and experienced paraprofessionals to provide a nurturing and structured setting for no more than 18 students.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
• Experience working with preschool-aged children, especially in blended or inclusive classrooms
• Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with fellow educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, families, and colleagues
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that addresses the educational goals of each student, supporting both academic and social-emotional development
• Work closely with the general education teacher in co-teaching, modifying curriculum, and classroom management
• Implement and monitor IEPs, document student progress, and participate in meetings with families and teams
• Utilize a variety of hands-on and play-based teaching strategies to engage young learners
• Foster an inclusive environment that values and supports each child’s unique abilities
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to provide individualized and small group support
• Maintain a safe, positive, and organized classroom atmosphere

The schedule runs weekdays from 7:45 AM to 2:30 PM, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance while shaping the growth of children during their formative years.
