Make a real difference in a student’s life by supporting meaningful growth as a Special Education Teacher for a unique contract opportunity. This role focuses on providing individualized compensatory services to one non-verbal first-grade student exhibiting self-injurious behaviors. Services will be delivered in the student’s home, located near Prospect, Virginia, until a total of 300 service hours are fulfilled. Flexibility regarding on-site or virtual (TBD) service delivery is being explored.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12 license required
- Experience working with students with significant behavioral or communication needs, preferably in a home or 1:1 setting
- Proven ability to adapt instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with families and support professionals
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed instruction, targeting the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives
- Implement effective behavior management strategies, including interventions for self-injurious behaviors
- Monitor and document student progress, making data-informed adjustments to instructional and behavioral strategies
- Communicate regularly with the family and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services and updates
- Adhere to all ethical, professional, and confidentiality standards throughout service delivery
