Step into a vital role supporting elementary students in a dynamic educational setting. This is an opportunity for eight dedicated special education professionals to make a lasting impact while working full-time (37.5 hours weekly) in a contract assignment for the 2026-2027 school year. Starting August 11, 2026, and running through May 28, 2027, you’ll focus on one assigned elementary school, collaborating with caring teams and contributing to student growth and achievement.
You'll have the chance to express your preferred caseload or classroom environment, whether that’s a life skills, autism, behavior support, or medically fragile unit. Each classroom is structured for small group rotations, with inclusive opportunities for lunch, art, and PE alongside peers.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) certificate
- Experience working with elementary-age students in self-contained or specialized classrooms is a plus
- Flexibility and adaptability to support a range of caseloads, including TLC, behavior, or medically fragile settings
- Strong collaboration, communication, and behavior intervention skills
- Must complete fingerprint clearance with TEA prior to starting if not previously cleared
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Foster a supportive, safe classroom environment for diverse learners
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, school nurses, homebound teachers, and school staff
- Document progress, maintain timely records, and communicate regularly with families and colleagues
- Participate in school-based activities to support inclusion and social development
