This opportunity focuses on teaching a self-contained high school classroom with a functional curriculum, supporting students with higher needs. You’ll collaborate closely with a strong team that includes two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician to create a positive, structured, and compassionate learning environment.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid Georgia SPED GaPSC Certification, authorized for SPED content through 8th grade, along with Adapted Curriculum Endorsement
- Consideration given to candidates with pending credentials nearing completion
- Previous experience in special education, especially in self-contained/functional curriculum classrooms, encouraged
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability
- Commitment to individualized student growth and creating a supportive classroom climate
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), emphasizing life skills and functional academics
- Utilize adaptive teaching strategies and classroom management to address diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, RBT, families, and related service providers
- Collect data and provide regular progress updates on student goals
- Contribute to a positive team culture that values every student’s abilities and potential
